Is Common Courtesy Dead ?

I fear that we have entered an era with people not paying enough attention to each other and not displaying acts of common courtesy our parents and past generations displayed.

There is a Golden Opportunity here for those in business to stand apart from the competition and by adopting characteristics of recognising others promote and grow their business by using simple but effective techniques based around thanking customers and suppliers for their custom and loyalty.

I have published a book titled " A Simple Thank You, Your Key to Happiness and Success" which is based on the principles of practicing ' common courtesies' and saying Thank You to those with whom you do business and show gratitude for their loyalty and or service.

We spend a lot of time in business determining ways to make our business 'unique' and I believe by showing gratitude to others is a simple way to achieve this goal and thus grow our business.

In addition we need to find ways to motivate others and realise that by giving to others without any intention o receiving anything in return, we are actually being very selfish as we will get rewards as much , if not more than , the person we motivated. A word of encouragement to another person is all that is needed to motivate someone, you don't have to be a renown motivator to fulfil this role. We all can be effective motivators.

The key to success is saying ' Thank You ' as much as you can. As Ralph Marston, Prominent American businessman stated " Make it a habit to tell people thank you. Express your appreciation sincerely and without expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you and you'll find many others around you. "

Technology has changed our lives in many ways, some of the change has not been for the betterment of society in general and especially not for an improvement in the way we respect each other. By adopting habits that have been tested in time such as writing letters we can improve and make living in society happier.

Let's work hard at returning to the old fashioned values of respecting and recognising each other and continuing the common courtesies that have seen our society grow thus making life happy and enjoyable
